Fraud Alert!
Class Clones
Yesterday a fraudulent clone front of one of my classes was discovered
at introtobraids.com. Everyone should be advised that they are NOT
associated with me, and are NOT an affiliate of UniversalClass.com.
They have either stolen my content or worse, they are a phishing scam designed
to get people's PayPal or credit card information.
We suspect the latter, PayPal and credit card fraud/phishing.
There may be more phishing clones of more UniversalClass.com courses
floating about.
So, to protect the public, here is some information on how to tell the
difference between a real UC affiliate and a fraud:
A real UC affiliate or advertiser:
-
Always lists the course instructor.
-
Always redirects into the UniversalClass.com system.
-
If they are a large affiliate and have DNS synced with UC, your existing
award and certificate codes will be in their database, and promotional
codes will work.
-
Has brilliant customer service.
-
Has an actual email address.
-
Is a real website, not just an ad front, and often has free
courses and communities available for you to try out.
A fake one:
-
Often doesn't list a course instructor, or lists one who isn't the real
one.
-
Doesn't have current promotions listed.
-
Doesn't have the updated list of lessons.
-
Switches around lessons in an irrational manner to try to avoid detection.
-
Takes you to a payment form that is not on PayPal, WorldPay, or a legitimate
known secure payment company's server.
Please pass the word. If you suspect a fraud, simply write to the
real instructor or UniversalClass.com.
If you have unwittingly given one of these frauds your money, report this
to PayPal or your credit card company immediately.
UniversalClass.com instructors should do what they can to increase their
public profile so that people can easily detect the difference between
you and the fakes. Post your links and syllabii at StudyItOnline.com,
submit articles where you can, and generally let people get to know you
on the net. If you need help, feel free to contact
me.
