A full head of individual braids can be tedious and time consuming.  Still, if you try to explain this too directly to a potential patron, they can give you this severely disappointed look.  A better thing to do is to instead of telling them what you can't do, tell them what you can do in alot less time, for alot less money.

Single Braid Options
You can make a single braid look fabulous just from placing it right.  Some would look better with a braid along the front or back hairline, while others look good with a braid somewhere closer to the middle and off center.

Part out a triangle, because this blends better with the hair.

Multiple Braids
You can also make a style out of 10 braids or less.  Here you can see how just six braids cascading over the rest of the hair can look very nice.

Another option for individual braids is to make an interesting braid.  Box braids or four strand Celtic braids or fishbones can stand alone beautifully like a single rose.

If they absolutely have to have a full head of individual braids, or half rows and half indies, and are willing to pay the price, it helps to speed things up if you have a plan.

The best way to start is to divide the hair into quarters, and work from the top down.  This way, as you go along, the hair that could potentially get in your way while your working, will be neatly tossed aside.
